Overview
The agriculture sector is the 8th largest contributor to Madinah’s GVA, with currently 22,370 agricultural holdings in the region. The main agriculture products in Madinah city include dates, honey, mint, chicken, vegetables and fish. Demand for dates exports has grown at nearly 5% CAGR between 2007 and 2016, indicating a potential The region currently employs traditional irrigation methods, leading to an increased use of water. As of 2018, there was a limitation on fodder and cereal crops due to water scarcity.
