AI-Powered Architectural Planning Tool “Maher”

“Maher”, meaning skilled in Arabic, is an AI-powered architectural planning tool that leverages artificial intelligence layered with 3D GIS data to prioritize areas that require renovation and remodeling. Since old neighborhoods in Al Madinah have several buildings in need of renovation, the “Maher” tool will enable architects and urban planners to quickly identify areas with deteriorating buildings and infrastructure. By curating plans to tackle these issues, old neighborhoods will enjoy safer living conditions and a revamped landscape.

USE CASE

JOURNEY

Nadia is a partner at an architectural firm with a mission to preserve and renovate historical districts in Saudi Arabia.

Nadia’s firm has been mandated by MDA to prioritize districts in Al Madinah city in need of renovation, identify possibly hazardous buildings, and estimate renovation effort needed, in addition to suggesting designs to beautify the districts while preserving their cultural and heritage value.

After collecting data through the “Maher” tool, an AI-powered tool that Nadia employs in her projects, she identifies priority areas in Al Madinah to be developed and develops a study of the resources needed for execution. Upon review, she submits her proposal to MDA including budget and effort estimates and proposes innovative solutions to restore existing buildings in old neighborhoods building on existing facades to preserve their cultural aspect and significance.
