Move in Al Madinah Companion App

Move in Al Madinah Companion App is a unified information platform for commuters across the city, providing them with real-time information on different public transportation modes. Since guidance, navigation and access to real-time data on public transportation is key for commuters to plan their movement across the city, the  app provides users with updated trip schedules, different payment packages, and customized incentives for different types of commuters (i.e., visitors, students, persons with special needs), along with the potential maintenance schedules and a unified digital payment and loyalty program for users. These features will incentivize the local community to use public transportation more often and be continuously informed to plan trips more effectively and efficiently.

JOURNEY

Zeinab is a tourist from Oman who is spending a few days in Al Madinah city with her husband. She is unfamiliar with the area but wants to experience different parts of the city whilst sticking to their budget, so she decides to try out public transportations.

She downloads “Al Madinah Companion App”, and the app provides the couple with real-time information about the different public transportation options with updated schedules and payment packages and incentives.

Zeinab browses through her options looking for tickets and chooses the ‘City Stroller’ package, which allows unlimited travel across the entire city for 5 days. She pays through Apple Pay and downloads the pass to her phone wallet. This way, she only needs to swipe her phone at the entrance of any public transport vehicle to enjoy the ride.

In that evening, Zeinab and her husband go to dinner 15 minutes away from their hotel. They allow the app to locate their current location and pin their destination and get recommended to use e-bikes, at a discounted price for first-time users. They both go to the docking station next to their hotel and enjoy a low-cost and fun ride.
