Smart Lockers “Ameen”

“Ameen”, an adjective meaning trustworthy in Arabic, is a city-wide project encompassing the deployment of smart lockers across Al Madinah city, providing an extended network for logistics operators’ delivery. Besides offering convenient self-service solutions for senders depositing an item for delivery, “Ameen” smart lockers also offer seamless pick-up solutions for recipients based on their time and location preferences. USE CASE

JOURNEY

Abdullah, a resident of Al Madinah city, is celebrating his wedding anniversary and orders a gift to surprise his wife. Instead of having the package delivered to his home while being away at work, he opts to have it delivered to the “Ameen” smart lockers, choosing a location for the locker next to his home.

Once the package is delivered to the locker, the delivery employee links Abdullah’s account to the locker, and the system generates a unique password to open it. Simultaneously, a notification is prompted on Abdullah’s phone with the locker details, the prompted password, and the status of the delivery.

Alternatively, Abdullah can use NFC to unlock the locker using his phone. On his way back from work, Abdullah passes by the locker. Using his smartphone to unlock it, he collects the gift and receives a confirmation that the package has been collected.

After surprising his wife with the unexpected present, Abdullah proceeds to tip the delivery man through the “Ameen” application.
